About the classroom clean air alliance

In recent years, due to COVID-19 and increasing wildfires, school districts have deployed in-room air cleaners at unprecedented scale—yet many have found that day-to-day use is hard to sustain. The signatories of this call-to-action form an alliance of organizations and schools signaling the clear need for improved air cleaning solutions for classrooms and inviting the market to deliver them.

Clean air for classrooms call-to-action

Students and staff deserve clean, healthy indoor air in every classroom, every day. They need to be able to attend school and focus on teaching and learning, even when smog, wildfire smoke, infection risk, or allergens make it difficult.

School districts have deployed in-room air cleaners at unprecedented scale, yet many have found that day-to-day use is hard to sustain when devices are too loud, too bulky, too expensive to maintain, and/or too easy to switch off or neglect.

We call on manufacturers, funders, and partners to innovate and offer better solutions for K–12 schools so that we have effective and affordable tools to keep our community healthy and safe.
